New Forest Walk.

A walk in the New Forest this afternoon.

During my walk I spotted a pair of Redstarts, the 1st I have seen in about 35 years (the birds I saw in the past were also in the New Forest). I was able to take a picture to record the sighting but the bird was at quite a distance so the results are not my best.

Redstarts are a summer visitor to the UK . Breeding males look bight, with slate grey upper bach, black faces and wings and an orange rump and chest. The Female bird is duller in colour. They are a bird in decline.

  1. Oh, I love these gnarly old trees and the moss on some of them. This looks like my kind of place. The Redstarts look similar to our Robins. (Probably have a better disposition than Robins which get surly sometimes.)
