WW2 Pillbox Quob Lane West End Southampton.
Today all that remains of a WW2 anti-aircraft battery is this pill box in Quob Lane. As a teenager the battery was fairly well intact with its command centre 4 gun batteries and 2 magazines with large steel doors.
When the M27 was built around the late 1970’s, the gun battery’s were lost the area was covered in soil from the Motorway cutting, I do not know if they were just buried or broken up before the soil was moved.
I have added a link to another WW2 site which was very similar to the lost battery at West End
