Curlew as close as I could get.

At the farm where we are staying near Newcastle  we have a group of about 6 Curlew roosting most evenings at the far side of one of the fields can not get very close but a treat to see as they are less common than a few years ago.

The curlew is the largest European wading bird, instantly recognisable on winter estuaries or summer moors by its long, downcurved bill, brown upperparts, long legs .

This bird is on the red list

Red list is the highest conservation priority, with species needing urgent action.
