Every time I have been to Portpatrick in South West Scotland I have seen Black Guillemots in the harbour today was no different about 12 birds enjoying the rain and shelter from the strong off shore winds.

black and white plumage and bright red feet make it easy to identify in summer. Black Guillemots often breed in holes in harbour walls, and may sit on a ledge when not on the water. Always check any holes or ledges and look for them close to the water’s edge, rather than well out on the surface, as it can be easy to overlook them. They are found around the coasts of north and west Scotland.
