Eider Ducks


Eider Ducks at the Beach near Dunbar Scotland. Eider ducks are the heaviest duck found in the UK according to the RSPB. They are a sea duck rarely found away from coasts where its dependence on coastal molluscs for food. Eiders are highly gregarious and stay close inshore, riding the swell in bays or strung out in long lines out beyond the breaking waves. The male is Black and White and the female is Brown.
