Porchester Castle


Portchester Castle is is a large a medieval castle built within an old Roman fort at Portchester Hampshire. It is located at the north end of Portsmouth Harbour.

Portchester remained occupied until the 17th century, It served as a prisoner-of-war camp during the  Napoleonic Wars.


St Mary’s Church built within the walls of the Castle. It was built as Augustinian Priory
